This is a small genus of plants endemic to the south west of
Western Australia. they form clumps with strap like leaves and
have unique woolly flowers in a range of outstanding colours.
Although they can be propagated by division, it is more usual
to grow them from tissue culture and breeders have successfully
come up with a large range of hardy flowers which can be grown
for export or confidently in gardens all over Australia. The
straight species suffer from a fungal problem known as "ink
disease" but this has been largely absent in cultivars.
