ACACIA

Common Name: Wattle

Family: Mimosacea

There are over 800 species recognised in Australia. Found in rainforest as trees, on sand dunes as low growing cover and hugging plants as well as in arid areas, there is a wattle for almost every garden condition. We stock those that will grow satisfactorily on the East Coast of Australia, more specifically the Sydney and South Coast areas. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain good shape. Often fast growing and sometimes short lived, wattles are often the first plants to recolonise areas devastated by fire or other intrusion. Almost all have YELLOW flowers.
